This page is under construction!!!!!

One big difference

Imagining what the other person is paying attention to, what are they expecting to hear you say, what's going on in their head, etc.

But doesn't take the time it would take for them to tell you all of what you're imagining, and you don't need to respond to any of it if you don't want to.

Note: it doesn't have to match what's actually going on in their head! It's about your experience as the talker and what the imagining of these things does for you in terms of what you're then saying or thinking.

But, it doesn't take the time it would take for them to fill you in on their experience, and their experience need not be anywhere near what you're imagining.

without their having to say anything and without your having to respond to anything, you've gotten some of the benefits of their presence and attention.
